This comfortable vacation home is named after the Lehua blossom. The Ohia is a native and is the most abundant tree in the Hawaiian islands, and is one of the first trees to break through the lava. The wood from the Ohia is very strong. Back in the late 1800's, it was farmed in the Puna district and shipped to the mainland for railroad ties. However, it was too hard for the spikes, and had to be used as fuel for the steam engines. Its red blossoms (Lehua) are important sources of nectar for the birds. Hale Lehua is surrounded by Ohia trees, and during certain times of the year, you'll be able to enjoy the beauty of the red Lehua blossoms. When you come "home" from a day of sightseeing, you enjoy the large living area that extends out onto the fully screened lanai, where you'll experience outdoor dining. The kitchen is fully equipped for those times you'd rather stay home and cook and just enjoy Paradise at home. Hale Lehua also has a fully screened lanai on the back side of the home, so you'll have complete privacy for relaxing and enjoying Paradise. Hale Lehua is located in the highly desirable Hawaiian Paradise Park area of the east side of the Big Island. The vacation home will sleep up to 3, with a queen bed in the master and a convertible futon couch in the 2nd bedroom. Hale Lehua has two full bathrooms.
